Dayton Koldyk joins the Summerland Jets as a hometown defenceman ready to help build the team’s first chapter.
A left-shot defenceman, Koldyk comes to the Jets after spending last season with the Princeton Posse, where he helped the team make a strong run to the KIJHL championship round. Before that, he played with the Thompson Zone Blazers and grew up playing minor hockey in Penticton, Summerland, and Kamloops.
Koldyk describes his game as physical, fast, and offensive-minded. He likes to use his speed to get involved in the rush, bring energy to the blue line, and make life difficult for opponents in hard areas of the ice. Jets fans can expect a player who competes hard, plays with physicality, and takes pride in bringing effort every time he is on the ice.
For Koldyk, joining the Jets is also personal. He has lived in Summerland for most of his life and is looking forward to playing close to family, reconnecting with former teammates, and continuing his development under Head Coach Robert Dirk.
This season, Koldyk is focused on improving his awareness, making quicker plays with the puck, and becoming more dangerous offensively from the blue line. He hopes to bring physicality, defensive reliability, and good energy to the Jets as the team builds its culture in its inaugural season.
