Carter McKenzie joins the Summerland Jets as a left-shot centre who brings Junior A experience, compete, and a strong two-way game to the team’s inaugural roster.
Originally from Calgary, Alberta, McKenzie grew up playing minor hockey with the Calgary Buffalos before continuing his development with the Calgary Rangers, Revelstoke Grizzlies, and Chase Heat. Last season with Chase, he made the jump to the KIJHL, recording five goals, five assists, 10 points, and 16 penalty minutes in 34 games.
Known by teammates as “C Mack,” McKenzie describes himself as an all-around, playmaking two-way centre. His strengths include faceoffs, his shot, net-front presence, and the ability to contribute in different situations. This season, he is focused on building more patience with the puck, adding offence, and continuing to grow his game at the junior level.
McKenzie brings more than 400 games of hockey experience over the past 11 years, along with leadership experience as an assistant captain in both 2021/22 and 2024/25. He has also earned team and tournament recognition, including a Coaches Award during the 2024/25 season.
For McKenzie, joining the Jets is a chance for a fresh start, an opportunity to grow, and a chance to help build a new team culture from the beginning. He is excited by the opportunity to contribute to a team he believes can become a contender, while playing in front of a tight-knit community and experienced coaching staff.
Jets fans can expect a competitor who brings energy, works hard, and is willing to do whatever it takes to help the team win. Away from the rink, McKenzie enjoys golf, video games, music, and puzzles, and fans might be surprised to learn he is part of the 1,000-pound club in the gym.
This season, McKenzie hopes to bring energy, goals, wins, and a strong team-first approach as the Jets work to establish themselves in their first BCHC season.
