Brayden Westman, Forward

Brayden Westman joins the Summerland Jets as a left-shot forward who brings speed, vision, and a proven ability to create offence. Originally from Kelowna, B.C., Westman spent part of his childhood in Edson, Alberta, before growing up in the Okanagan over the past seven years. His development path has included RINK Hockey Academy and the Okanagan Rockets, where he was part of a championship-winning group that advanced to the Telus Cup.

Last season, Westman recorded nine goals and 29 assists for 38 points in 33 games, along with 16 penalty minutes. His hockey résumé already includes four provincial championships and two appearances at the Telus Cup, giving him experience playing meaningful games on some of the biggest stages in minor hockey.

Westman describes himself as a fast player who sees the ice well, can distribute the puck, and also contribute offensively. Playmaking is one of the strongest parts of his game, while this season he is focused on continuing to improve his shot and becoming an even more complete offensive threat. He also brings leadership experience after serving as an assistant captain. As a teammate, Westman wants to be known as positive, hard-working, and willing to do whatever is needed to help the group succeed.

For Westman, Summerland stood out because of the opportunity to play close to home in front of a passionate crowd while joining a group he believes can win. He was drawn to the coaching staff, the community support, and the chance to help bring success and excitement to the rink. Jets fans can expect speed, creativity, compete, and a player committed to giving his best every night. His goals this season are simple: help the Jets make the playoffs, become a championship contender, and do whatever it takes to help the team succeed.

Away from the rink, Westman enjoys spending time with family and friends. Fans might also be surprised to learn that he started his hockey career playing right-handed before realizing he was actually a left shot.
