Sharky Nowek, Goaltender

Sharky Nowek joins the Summerland Jets as a steady, competitive presence in goal and a familiar Okanagan name heading into the team’s inaugural season.

A Penticton-based goaltender, Nowek comes to the Jets after spending last season with the Princeton Posse, where he helped the team push all the way to Game 7 of the KIJHL championship final. In 19 games last season, he posted a .912 save percentage and 2.82 goals against average, giving his team a reliable presence in the crease during a deep playoff run.

Nowek describes his game as calm, efficient, and composed. He takes pride in his speed, skating ability, and ability to stay steady in big moments, with a focus this season on depth management, playing the puck, and communication. Jets fans can expect a goaltender who competes, stays level under pressure, and is ready to make key saves when the team needs them most.

His hockey path has included time with the Princeton Posse, Brooks Bandits, Olds Grizzlys, Penticton Vees, and Okanagan Hockey Academy. Along the way, he has earned recognition as the Penticton Vees Best Conditioned Athlete for 2024/25, the Penticton Vees Academic Award for 2023/24, and the John Boscha Memorial Award as league MVP with the South Zone Knights U18 program in 2021/22.

For Nowek, joining the Jets is a chance to play close to home, reconnect with familiar faces, and be part of building something new in Summerland. In his final junior season, he hopes to bring leadership, positivity, and a reliable last line of defence to a team looking to prove itself from day one.
