Riddick Feely, Defenceman

Riddick Feely joins the Summerland Jets as a 6’5” left-shot defenceman who brings size, poise, and Junior A experience to the team’s inaugural roster.

Originally from Kamloops, B.C., Feely grew up playing minor hockey in his hometown before spending time with the Kamloops Storm and, most recently, the Winnipeg Blues of the MJHL. Last season in Manitoba, he appeared in 23 games and recorded three assists and 70 penalty minutes while gaining his first experience at the Junior A level.

Known by teammates as “Feels,” Feely describes himself as a strong, poised defenceman who can make plays on both sides of the puck. His size is an obvious part of his game, but he also wants to contribute with the puck and continue developing his offensive ability. He models parts of his game after Detroit Red Wings defenceman Moritz Seider.

Jets fans can expect a physical presence on the blue line, plenty of personality, and a player who wants to make an impact. Feely sees himself as a leader and is looking to bring that presence both on and off the ice while continuing to grow under Head Coach Robert Dirk.

The opportunity to work with Dirk was an important part of what drew Feely to Summerland, but the connection within the group has already made an impression too. He describes the team environment as a family and is excited by the culture the Jets have begun building together.

Feely has set ambitious goals for the season, including contributing more offence and helping the Jets compete for a championship. Away from the rink, he enjoys football, spends time in the gym, coaches basketball, and volunteers while working toward his goal of eventually joining the RCMP.
