Logan Racher-Bates joins the Summerland Jets as a steady, right-shot defenceman with KIJHL experience and a strong connection to the Okanagan.
Originally from Cranbrook, B.C., Racher-Bates grew up playing minor hockey in Cranbrook and Penticton, and has spent much of his life in the Okanagan. He comes to Summerland after suiting up for the Osoyoos Coyotes last season, where he recorded 14 points in 41 games, with two goals, 12 assists, and 16 penalty minutes. He has also spent time with the Kamloops Storm.
Racher-Bates describes his game as calm and defensive. He takes pride in reading plays, breaking them up, moving the puck, and being a dependable presence on the blue line. This season, he is focused on building the offensive side of his game, including his shot, while continuing to be a hard-working defensive player the Jets can count on.
For Racher-Bates, Summerland felt like the right fit because of the community, his familiarity with the Okanagan, and the chance to play for Head Coach Robert Dirk again. He is excited to be part of a new team, take on the challenge of helping build something from the beginning, and contribute to a group that wants to show what Summerland hockey can be.
Jets fans can expect a player who brings grit, effort, and leadership, while keeping the mood positive and pushing his teammates to be their best.
