Jacob Selent joins the Summerland Jets as a left-shot centre who brings pace, physicality, and a defensive edge to the team’s inaugural roster.
Originally from Kelowna, B.C., Selent grew up playing minor hockey in Sylvan Lake, Alberta, before continuing his development with Okanagan Hockey Academy U18 in the CSSHL. He previously played for Head Coach Robert Dirk and served as an assistant captain, an experience that helped shape the work ethic and leadership he hopes to bring to Summerland.
Known by teammates as “Selly,” Selent describes his game as hard-working, gritty, physical, and defensive-minded. He takes pride in faceoffs, speed, physical play, and strong defensive awareness, with a goal this season of continuing to build the offensive side of his game and staying calm with the puck under pressure.
Jets fans can expect a player who works hard, brings energy, plays with edge, and can be trusted in tough defensive situations, including on the penalty kill. Off the ice and in the dressing room, Selent wants to be a leader, a positive presence, and the kind of teammate others can talk to about hockey, life, and everything in between.
For Selent, joining the Jets is also a chance to reconnect with the game and play close to home in the Okanagan. He was drawn to the opportunity to work with Dirk again, be part of a close community, and help build something new in Summerland.
This season, Selent is focused on enjoying the game, working as hard as possible, connecting with his teammates, and helping the Jets build a team people can be proud to support.
