Emery Corpe, Defenceman

Emery Corpe joins the Summerland Jets as a left-shot defenceman who brings speed, skill, and strong hockey sense to the team’s inaugural roster.

Originally from Sherwood Park, Alberta, Corpe grew up playing minor hockey in Sherwood Park before continuing his development with the Strathcona Warriors, Kamloops Storm, and Nelson Leafs. He joins the Jets after spending last season with Nelson in the KIJHL. In 34 games last season, Corpe recorded two goals, 12 assists, 14 points, and 31 penalty minutes. He also helped win a U18AA provincial championship in 2025, a moment he points to as the biggest of his hockey career so far.

Known by teammates as “Corps,” Corpe describes himself as a fast, skilled, intelligent defenceman with a creative edge. His strengths include skating, passing, and hockey IQ, and he is focused this season on continuing to improve his shot, physical play, and overall defensive responsibility.

For Corpe, joining the Jets is a chance for a fresh start with a determined group and a community he has heard strong things about. After speaking with other players who spoke highly of the coaching staff and team environment, Summerland felt like the right fit.

Jets fans can expect high-paced hockey, energy, and a player who wants to make things happen while continuing to grow into a reliable two-way defenceman. As a teammate, Corpe wants to be supportive, have his teammates’ backs, and help build a strong culture from the start.

This season, Corpe hopes to bring fun, compete, and winning hockey to Summerland while helping the Jets push for the playoffs in their first year.
