Chase Heide joins the Summerland Jets as a left-shot winger who brings physicality, energy, and a strong feel for the game to the team’s inaugural roster.
Originally from Sylvan Lake, Alberta, Heide grew up playing minor hockey in his hometown before continuing his development in British Columbia with Pacific Coast Hockey Academy and the North Shore Warriors U18 Prep program in the CSSHL. Despite battling injury last season, he recorded six goals and five assists for 11 points in 14 games, along with 37 penalty minutes. He also put up 40 points during his U17 Prep season.
Known by teammates as “Heider,” Heide describes himself as a physical forward with good hockey sense and an ability to see the ice well. Skating is one of the strongest parts of his game, and he is focused on becoming more deceptive with the puck as he continues developing at the junior level.
Jets fans can expect energy, physical play, and a forward who wants to put the puck in the net. Just as importantly, Heide takes pride in being the kind of teammate who keeps the group positive and makes sure everyone feels like they belong.
For Heide, joining the Jets is a chance to help bring junior hockey back to Summerland while continuing to play in a part of British Columbia that has become familiar over the past two seasons. He was drawn to the community, the coaching staff, and the opportunity for this group to set its own expectations and build a winning culture from the beginning.
Hockey is also part of how Heide gives back. He coaches young players in roller hockey and has previously helped coach a U11 provincial team. Away from the rink, he enjoys fishing, hiking, spending time with teammates, and working construction during the off-season.
This season, Heide is focused on continuing to develop his game, helping establish a winning culture, and bringing plenty of energy to Summerland every time he steps on the ice.
